Why is 60×120 cm the standard size for baby beds? In Germany, cots have a standardised internal mattress size of 60×120 cm (EN 716). A precisely fitting fitted sheet leaves no dangerous gaps between the mattress and the bed frame. Terra Beds baby fitted sheets 60×120 are manufactured precisely to this standard size.
How many fitted sheets do I need for the baby bed? Paediatricians and midwives recommend at least 3–4 fitted sheets. Babies sweat a lot at night, spit up and do not yet have full bladder control. With 3–4 sheets, you always have one in reserve while the others are in the wash or dryer.
OEKO-TEX® Class I — what it means: Class I is the strictest OEKO-TEX® class and applies specifically to textiles that come into contact with baby skin. The limit values for harmful substances are significantly lower than in all other classes — no formaldehydes, no allergenic dyes, no pesticides.
Which materials are not suitable for babies? Microfibre (poor breathability, heat build-up), bamboo rayon (often chemically treated), synthetic blends. The only recommended option: certified 100% cotton with OEKO-TEX® Class I.
Breathability and SIDS prevention: 100% cotton is the most breathable common bedding material and naturally regulates the baby's body temperature. Microfibre and synthetics can promote heat build-up — precisely what paediatricians and SIDS researchers recommend avoiding.

The fitted sheet 60×120 cm fits all standard baby cribs and cots with a mattress size of 60×120 cm — the standard size for baby beds in Germany according to EN 716. Travel beds and folding beds sometimes have different dimensions — please always measure the mattress size before ordering.
Mindestens 3, besser 4 Stück. Babys verschmutzen das Laken durch Schweiß, Speichel, Urin und gelegentliches Erbrechen sehr schnell. Ein Wechsel ist oft auch nachts nötig. Mit 3–4 Exemplaren hast du immer ein frisches Laken griffbereit, während die anderen in Wäsche oder Trockner sind.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 hat vier Klassen. Klasse I ist die strengste und gilt speziell für Textilien, die mit Babyhaut in Kontakt kommen. Die Prüfgrenzwerte für Schadstoffe sind deutlich niedriger als in allen anderen Klassen. Terra Beds fitted sheets are designed and certified for 60°C. Occasional washing at 90°C is possible (especially for heavily soiled white sheets), but may affect color and fiber elasticity. For normal hygiene, 60°C is perfectly sufficient—dust mites die at 55°C.
Many travel cots have mattress sizes close to 60x120 cm - but not always exactly. Please measure the internal dimensions of the travel cot before purchasing. If the size deviates by more than 2 cm, we recommend not using a 60x120 sheet, as the sheet will not fit securely otherwise.
