Buying a 140×200 cm Fitted Sheet — The Complete Guide
140×200 cm fitted sheets are the standard size for compact double beds in Germany. A 140×200 cm fitted sheet fits mattress widths between 130 and 145 cm at a standard length of 200 cm. Typical bed types: compact double beds (matrimonial beds), wide guest beds, and standard 140×200 beds in hotel rooms.
Terra Beds uses 100% cotton jersey with a 160 g/m² fabric weight — a fabric that naturally stretches and adapts thanks to its knitted structure. Unlike woven percale, jersey is softer, more supple, and especially skin-friendly.
Wash your jersey fitted sheet 140×200 cm every 1–2 weeks at a maximum of 60°C. No fabric softener — it reduces the cotton's absorbency. Tumble drying on a low setting is fine. Jersey fitted sheets are wrinkle-free.

Yes. Our cotton jersey with 360° all-around elastic stretches naturally and fits mattress widths between 130 and 145 cm. Jersey is stretchier than percale or satin — so a tolerance of ±10 cm is no problem.
The fabric weight indicates the weight per square meter. 160 g/m² is the solid premium range for jersey sheets — lighter than percale (200 g/m²), but noticeably higher quality than cheap goods starting at 80–100 g/m². The fabric is soft, opaque, and durable.
Measure the mattress and topper together. Our fitted sheet fits a total height of up to 25 cm. Check that your mattress (including any topper) does not exceed this height so the elastic sits comfortably.
It depends on your preferences. Jersey (our recommendation): the stretchiest, softest, most affordable. Percale: tightly woven, fresher, cooler, more durable. Sateen: silky sheen, luxurious, but expensive (from €40–150) and more delicate to wash.
Recommendation: every 7–14 days. Overnight, you lose 0.2–1 liter of sweat plus skin flakes — a breeding ground for dust mites. Allergy sufferers should wash weekly at 60°C, since mites are killed at this temperature.
